In our elementary school days picking teams and playing sports was often dreaded. However, team sports have proven to help not only our physical health but also our mental health. Team sports are proven to benefit the youth population, but also, team sports can help all age groups.
Team sports support social interaction and encourage individuals to think from a team perspective. Team sports also help individuals practice patience and persistence, which can help teach valuable life lessons.

Team sports offer individuals a great way to get physical activity while providing a great way to connect with others. Working with other people requires strong communication, and team sports offer individuals the foundation to communicate correctly, which translates to having a successful team.
Another benefit that team sports provide individuals is responsibility. Working as a team teaches people that mistakes happen and that learning how to move on from them and do better in the future.

Build self-esteem
Team sports bolster the five C’s: competence, confidence, connection, character, and caring. Team sports are a great way to increase self-esteem by providing people with a support system. A sense of community is proven to help improve an individual’s overall self-esteem!

Team sports provide individuals with physical activity while making it fun at the same time. Obesity is at an all-time high affecting over 40% of the United States population. Team sports provide individuals with a set routine that can help them get the proper amount of physical activity.
According to Forbes.com, you should get at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity activity each week. By participating in team sports once a week, you are already creating a healthy, well-balanced routine for yourself and others!

By creating a realistic and healthy routine, you can ensure that you are staying happy and healthy! Team sports are a great way to socialize with others while remaining active. Look into your local fitness and recreation centers to participate, or create team sports with your coworkers!
Authors Note: Joining a team can be scary but remember that you must start somewhere, and there are team sports at all levels. I promise team sports is the quickest and easiest way to stay fit and create long-lasting relationships!
