Laugh it out

When was the last time you got a good laugh? A laugh that might have left you in tears, a laugh that left you holding your stomach trying to breathe again. Whether it’s a small giggle or a big guffaw, laughing has some proven health benefits!

Gains from Giggles

Who doesn’t love a good laugh? You deserve to find joy and humor in your life, and it’s good for you! Here are some of the benefits of humor, besides reducing stress:

  • Decreases pain
  • Good for the cardiovascular system
  • Promotes muscle relaxation
  • Reduces anxiety
  • Burns calories

Find Your Funny Bone

Now that you know that humor is good for you, here are some ideas on how you can get more humor in your day!

  • Stream your favorite comedy show or podcast!
  • Share a laugh with someone (safely) – either through a Zoom or phone call, stay connected, and reap the benefits of humor!
  • Feel like a kid again! Do something you liked to do as a kid and experience the same joy for a burst of health benefits!
  • Try to laugh at hassles. Find the humor in your situation by looking for what’s absurd or amusing, for some quick relief!

Try to laugh right now! Start with a smile, then laugh – even if it feels a little forced. After your laugh, see how you feel. Do you feel a little silly? Are your muscles a little more relaxed? Laughter isn’t exactly medicine, but it can make you feel good!

Sharing is Caring!

What’s your go-to when you need a good laugh? Some of Krysta’s favorite go-to media for when she needs a laugh are Brooklyn Nine-NineParks and Recreation, and My Brother, My Brother, and Me.

We want to know what makes you laugh so, let us know and share with your friends!
