This is the story of one kind gesture. That became two. That became four. That became sixteen, and then hundreds, then thousands, hundreds of thousands….and will soon become millions. It’s a story of how people just can’t help themselves from joining in. It’s instinctive for humans to be kind to one another.
What started out as a community event of women who shared a commitment to creating ways to help and support others turned into an annual event called HOLIDAY CRAFTS, CHEERS & LAUGHS®. Now in its tenth year, that event boasts over 400 attendees in Phoenix and Kansas City who all contribute their time to honor often overlooked contributors in the infrastructure of our society.
That event spurred a passion in 2011 to make a meaningful difference by joining forces to do two very important things:
To Honor TEACHERS – the “unsung heroes” who are integral in the fabric of our nation’s communities!
To Inspire kindness in those who are the future of our communities – our STUDENTS!
And The Be Kind People Project was created!
In one November evening in 2011, the volunteers created the inaugural gifts for almost 10,000 teachers and over 200,000 students in Phoenix and Kansas City.
And then those 10,000 became 20,000…..and so on and so on…..and a national movement to recognize teachers and bring kindness to our nation’s schools was born…
